SIDN Fund: taking internet projects and ideas to the next level
SIDN Fund stands for ‘a strong internet for all’. We provide financial support to ideas and projects that aim to make the internet stronger or that use the internet in innovative ways. By doing so, SIDN Fund wants to help increase the social impact of the internet in the Netherlands. SIDN Fund is an independent foundation established by SIDN, the foundation for internet domain registration in the Netherlands. Our goals are:
A stronger internet
An open and free internet, which is accessible to all, trusted by the public and seen as a foundation on which to build. We welcome funding requests regarding new digital technology applications, or innovative and user-friendly software or hardware, for example.
Empowerment of adults, youngsters or children with the skills needed to surf the internet safely, freely and confidently.
Creative and innovative use of the internet, with social or economic impact. In support of this goal, we support new business models and pioneering solutions to social issues, e.g. in the fields of education, care, environmental sustainability and safety.
Great importance is attached to the social value of the projects and to the involvement of the internet community. SIDN Fund has an advisory panel made up of representatives of the Dutch internet community. The panel provides the Fund with advice, particularly with regard to the assessment of project proposals.

Funding your project
There are two calls for proposals per year. Applicants can submit either a Pioneer project proposal or a Potentials project proposal. Pioneer projects are projects that aim to develop a good idea into a demo, pilot or experimental design. Our maximum contribution is €10,000 per project. Potentials projects are projects that aim to upscale a working prototype into a useable application with significant potential. Contributions up to €75,000 per project.
SIDN Fund does not support internationally oriented projects. To qualify for support, a project should have impact on Dutch society. The criteria are set out in full on our website (in Dutch).
